LIVENOTE
What are LEF files?
LEF is a file format that enables you to receive transcripts with
the related evidence seamlessly integrated and ready for import into
LiveNote. An LEF file can contain all the deposition exhibits already
scanned and hyperlinked into the text, ready for import into LiveNote.
An LEF file can also contain the synchronized video file, enabling easy
playback of the deposition video in LiveNote. We will deliver your LEF
file on a CD.
How do I import LEF files?
To use an LEF file, you need LiveNote FT or SR, version 8.2 or greater.
In LiveNote, select Transcript -> Import. This is identical to the current
transcript import procedure, except that you will select an .lef file rather
than a .txt file in the Windows browse screen. If you are using the LEF
file to update a rough transcript already in your case, simply select
Transcript -> Update.
How large are LEF files?
This depends on the image format (TIF, PDF, or JPG) and the scan
resolution (300 dpi vs 600 dpi). However, the LEF is a compressed file
format.
Though LEF files may contain the LiveNote
synchronized video file (.vid file), the much larger MPEG (.mpg) file
containing the digital video itself will not be bundled. MPEG files are
delivered on CD or DVD. Typically, a CD can hold up to two hours of
testimony. A DVD can hold an entire day’s testimony.
